S-TEC System 30 Autopilot

Exactly one week ago I picked up 83N with a newly installed S-Tec System 30 and I’m loving it! I’ve made several postings about my trip to the South and back. I put over 14 hours on 83N this past week. The S-TEC worked great every time I used it. Since I was flying solo the autopilot gave me a chance to take some breathers.

South of Atlanta I was given two changes in my IFR clearance. I just activated the autopilot while copying down the new clearances, entering the new fixes in my Garmin and locating the new fixes on my chart. I’d still glance back at the instruments every 30 seconds or so, but no problems. When doing the full GPS procedure for Crossville, TN the S-TEC never wavered! I just have to be careful I don’t get too reliant on this fantastic piece of gear!

The work on my S-Tec and my Garmin 430, which I had installed last year, were done by Mid America Avionics out of Auburn, IN (DeKalb County Airport – 07C). (They use to have an additional shop at Ft. Wayne, IN but have moved all their operations to Auburn.) They do a first rate job at a reasonable price. I highly recommend them if you are in need of avionics work. The phone number is 260-927-8779 – just ask for Rick Morris. (I have no affiliation with Mid America, just wanted to pass on this testimonial.) David Snodgrass Beech Be23 N6083N North Manchester, IN
