Where can I find a good overhaul shop for my Continental IO346 (IO 346 or IO-346) engine? I understand that Teledyne Continental now offers a new cylinder kit based on IO520 cylinders (this is the engine on which the IO346 is based). I also understand t - Beech Aero Club (BAC)

Where can I find a good overhaul shop for my Continental IO346 (IO 346 or IO-346) engine? I understand that Teledyne Continental now offers a new cylinder kit based on IO520 cylinders (this is the engine on which the IO346 is based). I also understand that cases, camshafts, and crankshafts have become hard to find. This shortage is apparently worsened by the 1,600-hour TBO of the Continental, versus the almost universal 2,000-hour TBO of the comparable Lycomings. Search strings: IO346 overhaul, IO-346 overhaul, overhaul my IO346 engine

Al Todd:
G&N in Griffith Indiana has done IO 346’s in the recent past. They are a top notch overhauler, been to their shop, ran my IO 346 parts through their system.

Ajpcps:
I can recommend Western Skyways of Montrose Colorado for a IO346 overhaul. They did mine and so far I’ve had 80 trouble free hours. I have changed the oil three times and I’ve never exceeded 1 quart between changes. I recommend that you look at the cylinder kit from Continental. It will add some to the price of the overhaul but I believe it is well worth the money. The only parts real hard to come by are the crankshaft, crankcase and camshaft.

Nick:
Try Chuck Ney in Tulsa, OK. He did my IO-346 and I have 600 hours on it! Chuck is on the web at http://www.chuckneyent.com/.
