With credit to Steve King on MusketeerMail: Whether or not you are putting in new materials, I’d recommend treating your carpet and upholstery with the “Inspecta Shield” fire retardant product, unless you know the materials you have are fire resistant. Even factory installed materials in many older planes have very poor fire resistance. It is invisible, and claims to also radically reduce fading. Also, it is pretty cheap. Aircraft Spruce sells it in a quart spray bottle for about $15. (A company called Dazian sells it by the gallon for $39.)
