I need to replace my windshield and replace my windows. Where should I buy a new windshield? Where should I buy new windows? (Search strings: windshield replacement, window replacement, side windows)
From Bob Steward, A&P-IA:
Don’t buy direct from LP Aero. Buy through a distributor, preferably one that
is a “Master Stocking Distributor” like FletchAir in Houston TX. LP only sells
direct at full retail list price. I’ve yet to find anyone with a better price than FletchAir, on LP plastic.
Call 800-FAWINGS (800-329-4647); ask for Garner Rice, and tell him Bob Steward sent you. Many Musketeer owners have bought windows from them, and have been very pleased with the cost and quality.
Editor:
Bob’s advice should work out fine. If you have any problems getting or staying in contact with FletchAir, you can also order windows through Aircraft Spruce. They sell LP Aero acrylic at a discount off full list. While Spruce doesn’t show our planes in their listed acrylics, they will order our acrylic for drop-shipment direct from LP Aero to you. Spruce usually provides a 25% to 35% discount off the LP Aero list price. As an example, they show the M20J Mooney windshield (standard thickness) for $213; list price at LP Aero is $340. The best LP has ever done for me on direct orders, as an FBO price (jobber price) is 25% off of list price.
