This was probably not the first fly-in to be 100% IFR but it was the first in the Northeast Region.
The three day weather forecast was for sunshine. Two day slightly lower. One day “Iffy”. Fly-In day rain and low clouds.
Carlos Vares, Airboss of Rhode Island joined Tom Corcoran, Northeast Regional Director to enjoy Bike Week at Lake Winnepesaukee New Hampshire. The enjoyment was in the comfort of New Hampshire Airboss Ron Cribbie’s Mercedes. After lunch Ron gave a drizzly tour of one of America’s most enduring motorcycle conclaves.
Carlos flew in from Providence, Rhode Island and Tom flew in from Mansfield, Massachusetts. Going to and coming from the fly-in was surely in the clouds with mostly zero visability except for a broken cloud here and there.
Emerson Aviation was the sponsor FBO and Ron Cribbie was organizer and host. Several text messages from members were received expressing their regrets.
Next Northeast event is the fly-in June 18 at Rutland Vermont hosted by Vermont Airboss Larry Perry. EAA will serve pancakes.
